This is a special ring it shares all the same characteristics with the other bent wood rings, starting out as a billet of silver and a strip of wood. The silver is cut and shaped to the correct size in this case an N1/2. The makers mark is then stamped in to the silver. The wood is joined to the silver and endless sanding occurs all the way up to 2500. A channel is then carefully cut in the ring and a fluro powder is then placed in side. A coating is placed over the top to secure the powder and also the protect the wood. The whole ring is then thoroughly polished and shined.
The fluro powder absorbs the light, predominantly sunlight or other UV light but it will absorb power from artificial light and therefore emits a weaker glow.
The brightness and length of light emitted obviously depends on how much is absorbed. Wear it outside in the summer and it will glow much of the night.
The glow in this ring is a blue reflecting 'the thin blue line'.
